I propose that when vegans evetually devolve like the Eloi that we put them on the menu. Of corse the original morlocks probably suffered from tha jacob-whatever the rest of the name is that's basically the human equivailent of mad-cow disease that effects cannibals especially those that eat the brain matter. So to avoid this we willinstitute mandatory genetic screening to ensure that our Eloi are no longer Homo sapien and thus cannabalism is not our intent nor desirable. The reason for clothing them is many fold. First, in Genesis God new that the original sin had been committed when Adam & Eve were clothed...our we our brother's keeper? that is the first question asked of God by man according to most Bibles. If you are a shepherd of Eloi you want to fatten them for the feast. If they are cold at night(or during the day) they'll waste too many calories on keeping their body temperature around 98 degrees.
